CIVI HALL RESTORATION - BALLARAT

The Ballarat Civic Hall was constructed in 1953 as a multi-use public hall complex with two main spaces. Several annexes have subsequently been constructed. In 2003 the Civic Hall was closed to the public while various options for the future of the site were considered.

In April 2016, the Ballarat City Council resolved to restore the Civic Hall main hall as part of an adopted masterplan for the development of the site.

Project functional requirements comprise:

• Demolition of selected internal walls, floor coverings, ceilings and pre-existing mechanical, electrical and plumbing services, including removal of asbestos containing materials
• Restoration of spaces including foyer, main hall, stage, below stage spaces, circle foyer, seating, amenities and storage areas.
• Supply and installation of new mechanical services including heating cooling and distribution systems
• Supply and installation of new electrical services potentially including new switchboard, power distribution and lighting
• Supply and installation of new plumbing and amenities
• Supply and installation of lifts and lift wells
• Supply and installation of acoustic treatments and theatre specialist lighting and sound systems
• DDA compliant access for all new facilities and general access areas
• All areas comply with modern building code standards
